About Us
Angels Among Us Pet Hostel is the dream of the late Phil Royce, whose love for people and animals showed through in his random acts of kindness for both. After suffering a heart attack, Phil became good friends with one of his cardiologists. A phone call from this doctor requesting help, was the start of Phil's dream. It seems there was a gentleman that needed to be admitted to the VA hospital for treatment, but refused to go in because he had no place for his dog to stay. He had no family, and not enough money to board his canine companion.
Once Phil heard this, he told the doctor we would be right there. We met with the doctor, patient and dog. I will never forget the look on the mans' face as Phil shook his hand and told him it would be okay. Phil paid to have the dog boarded, a bath and vacinations. Two weeks later, the gentleman and his canine companion went home and Phil had a mission; to create a center where people could bring their pets while they are hospitalized or displaced.
Phil died in November of 2002. He will never see his dream become a reality. But with your help, we can make his dream come true, and help hundreds of pets in the Upper Valley and surrounding areas from uneccessary abuse, neglect or euthanasia due to the owners hardship.
